My Job Needs To Get Screwed
Before people think that this is a "screw my job" post being written by some frustrated Internet geek, I should say that such a line of thought isn't as accurate as it may at first seem. The truth is, I actually like my job. That's why I've been able to keep going back to it after so many years of crap. But I do have a few things to gripe about, all the same.
See, I work at Wendy's, which is a burger chain, as I'm sure most of us already know. My specific job is the grill position. This means that my primary responsibility is to make sure there are enough hamburger patties ready to meet whatever the demands of the moment may be. Pretty simple so far. What makes it tricky is that after 3 or 4 PM, it also becomes my responsibility to make sure there is enough chicken, too. Tricky because the equipment to do so is a good distance from where I need to be to keep up with the beef, too. If I have to keep going to a different part of the building to do what has become a major part of my job description, something tells me that we're going to wind up getting seriously screwed one of these days. Hell, we get screwed a little bit every day because of this, which means it's really only a matter of time before something goes seriously wrong. I just can't help but wonder if that's really what it's gonna take to help get this problem fixed.
